LUMINAIRES FEATURED Tango Surface Facade Luminaires
Tango 37 is typically a post-top luminaire, but designers requested its adaptation for both post-top and wall-mounted applications, complete with matching brackets. Furthermore, the body was extended to 400mm in order to house integral emergency gear and ensure optimal light distribution. MicroVOS optics meant that T2 and T3 distributions could be used to achieve the required illumination at ground level, and forward throw upward optics could be used to softly light the station canopy.
Aurecon and GHD led the design and engineering efforts to ensure the station's modern architecture aligned with Sydney Metro’s vision and functional requirements. The lighting design balances high horizontal and vertical illuminance for platforms and walkways with soft, indirect lighting to enhance depth and highlight the architecture.
The LIGMAN Tango, featuring configurable MicroVOS optics for both downward and upward lighting, provided the flexibility required to meet all design specifications. A selection of fixture types was strategically chosen for stairs, platforms, and walkways, then customised to meet the project's exact needs. These tailored solutions demonstrate how thoughtful design can enhance public infrastructure, improving the passenger experience and setting a new standard for urban transit environments.
